Kristin owns Sunrise Midwifery in Prosser, Washington. She is a direct-entry midwife who has completed the Washington state requirements for practicing midwifery and received her license in April 2009. She is also a nationally Certified Professional Midwife.
Kristin's family are all directly involved in medicine, as doctors and nurses. She has traveled extensively, and is fluent in French and functional in Spanish. Her son was also born at home and breastfed. Kristin's interests are widely varied, and include occasionally coaching basketball. She is also active in promoting midwifery, often attending Lobby Day at the Washington state capitol to discuss current issues with legislators.
Her formal education includes a BA in Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame in 1996, undergraduate study at Seattle Midwifery School and Lewis Clark State College, and a BA in Midwifery from Midwives College of Utah in 2009. Her areas of research include potential causes of the lower incidence of Group B Strep infections in newborns born out-of-hospital.
Other education and experience includes IBLCE Professional Lactation Educator, ALACE Labor Support, and Natural Family Planning.
Her clinical training includes office experience with family practice and OB/GYN doctors, out-of-hospital births with homebirth midwives in Washington and Idaho, birth center births at Casa de Nacimiento in Texas, and hospital and birth center births in Idaho.
She is available for women's health care and childbirth education at her office in Prosser, and home birth services throughout the Yakima Valley. She also travels south into Klickitat county to assist Lorri at births.

Lorri owns Highland Midwife Birth Services in Goldendale, Washington. She is a direct-entry midwife with over 20 years of birthing experience.
Lorri had all of her own 5 children out of hospital, and was a nursing mother for about 10 years; now she is a grandmother of 2. She lives with her husband in the foothills of the Simcoe mountains where she breeds Arabian horses.
Her formal education includes a degree in Pre-Med Biology, undergraduate study at Seattle Midwifery School, and graduate study at Midwives College of Utah which will soon result in a Masters of Science in Midwifery. Her areas of midwifery research are primarily in nutrition during pregnancy, and she is developing her PhD research study on perinatal Omega-3 and Vitamin D therapy.
Other education and experience includes Emergency Medical Technician Basic, IBLCE Professional Lactation Educator, DONA Labor Support, ICEA Childbirth Educator, and massage/physiotherapy specializing in pregnancy and injury rehab with licensure as an LMT, LMP, and ICMTBP international certification. She has been approved as a preceptor to train students from several colleges.
Her midwifery training took place in a wide range of settings, including out-of-hospital (home and birth center) births with several types of midwives and doctors, births in hospitals with doctors and nurse midwives, and clinical obstetric and gynecology care for thousands of women.
Lorri assists Kristin at most births in the Yakima valley, serves the Columbia River Gorge area, builds websites for the area midwives, and makes custom herbal tinctures for clients of both practices. For more information, see her website.
